Coaches
CULRC is lucky enough to be supported by some dedicated and talented coaches; many of whom have had success in high level rowing. The current coaching team is outlined below.
Dave White
Dave matriculated and learnt to cox at St. Catharine's College in 2000. He was Captain of his College Boat Club 2003-04 and again in 2005-06. As a cox, Dave has won with Molesey at the UK National Veteran Championships and Veteran Head of the River Race, and coxed the 2007 Lightweight Blue Boat.
He has coached various College crews and athletes since 2003 to success in on-Cam, regional and Varsity races. As such, Dave was Assistant Coach for the 2008 Lightweight Boat Race and Acting Head Coach for the first half of the 2009 campaign. He was selected for the job of Head Coach by the executive committee shortly before the start of the 2010 campaign.
Matt Castle
Steve Fuller
Steve noviced at Robinson College in 2006 and trialled in 2008. Unable to trial due to injury the following year he stayed involved by focusing his effort on coaching and serving as vice-president. Since then he has decided to continue coaching the club.
Steve is the only one of the coaching team who still rows on a day to day basis which he fits around his regular coaching schedule with CULRC.
Jon Hutton
Jon rowed for Cambridge Lightweights in 1977 and was Captain of Jesus College Boat Club the following year. He won National Colours for Zimbabwe, steering the IV which toured Europe in 1989, winning Gold in the UK National Championships. In the 1990s he coached southern African crews to the World Championships.
In 2000 Jon returned to work in Cambridge where he works for the UN, spending his spare time coaching town club crews, Jesus College and the Lightweight Squad.
